Subscribe to our free newsletter Request a new review UTILIZATION It is extremely easy to get a good sound out of the Fireball. Set the controls at noon and tweek the knobs from there. The manual is clear, but not totally necessary as this is a pretty self explanatory amp. SOUNDS I used the Engl Fireball with a Gibson Les Paul Custom, and a pedal board consisting of a Boss TU-2, a Line 6 MM4, and a Boss NS-2. I play all varieties of “rock,” but the distortion channel on the Fireball is voiced more for “metal.” The tone is very aggressive and I could not find a way to dial it out or minimize it in any way. The clean channel is VERY clean, but sounded a bit dull and lifeless. It was a passable clean when I put chorus or other effects on, but it still lacked a certain bouncy quality that nice clean tones produce. The Bright button helped a little, but not enough to salvage the tone. OVERALL OPINION My favorite thing about the Engl Fireball is the simplicity of the amp and the quality of the tone. Unfortunately that tone does not work with the style of music I play. I would love to have the Fireball as a second or third back-up amp, but not for my primary tone. I was attracted to the Fireball because it is one of the lower priced Engls. Qu'ENGL injury has not kept the gate found on Fireball 100W. UTILIZATION Easy to use, no need for manual: the amp has the usual minimalist features. 60W lamps is ultra strong for those looking for an apartment amp. However, compared to other amps 50W or more, I think the master volume and effective it is possible to play at a reasonable level of output with a very good sound quality.

SOUNDS Clean channel: the sound is round and of good quality. Pushing the gain (from half or more, depending on the guitar pickups), it evolves into a crunch. Disto channel: This is enjoyable. I wanted an amp built for heavy metal saturation and that's why I bought it. And I'm not disappointed: it has a headroom so phenomenal that it is even used to push anything beyond half. It is associated with a Gibson Flying V and a Mesa Boogie Rectifier 2x12 cabinet and it sends the fire. I had in the past 2 Marshall (DSL100 and JVM205H ), a Mesa Boogie combo Rectoverb 50W and none of his amps will compete on the big saturation. I was also really surprised the first time I I tried because the sound is incisive, sharp and highly accurate.Big sound is his vocation No. 1, the amp was designed for it and moreover it is also a disadvantage: the versatility of the amplifier is reduced compared to the competition. You understand that if you want a very versatile amp with various possible combinations, go your way. OVERALL OPINION You're a metalhead and looking for a amp that excels in the big sound? 2 channels are enough for you. So I really suggest you try and form your opinion. If you are not looking at any price versatility as can make such a Diezel, a Powerball or a Recto 4 channels, this amp is for you and in addition it will save you money. The manual can be downloaded from the site of ENGL and is well done, with tips for tweaking the settings and avoid mistakes of beginners (I am one with respect to tube amps, and thank you for the forum and the manual! !) As mentioned earlier, the first thing to do everything possible to noon (except master, attention, quickly snatches it !!!), and playing with the buttons carefully. Meticulously, yes, because this amp is very responsive, and that's why he is so good. At first, it turns a quarter by quarter, and a notch by notch, then less and less. Everything is interactive. For example, the acute will play on.

The presence plays a huge role on it (besides, I only set to 1, otherwise it was a bee in his disto I do not like). The bright switch and depth play heavily on clean, but it's more discreet distortion. Take time to resolve this amp is part of the fun playing it. I mainly play at home in apartments, from Metallica, but the Eels, Smashing Pumpkins, Weezer. And where Fireball is hard is that on the one hand, it is good at low volumes, and secondly, it provides for each of the styles: - The clean: a sharpness that would be between a Fender Blues Junior Marshall and a Class 5 I think, for trying the two. This is not one, not the other it is something else, although I admit a little lacking in character compared to two other well-typed, but it is personal, and I love it I, the clean ENGLien! - The distortion, then there. It requires to play clean, it's progress. I've always loved the sound of the distortion of a correct (who said metallica fan?) But overpriced. And Fireball does not this sound, I think. But it has a well apart, and hard. Precise, snarling, balanced. I prefer the distortion to clean because the clean is beautiful in all cases. But as the amp takes pedals very well, a nice little chorus (or delay, personal!) On the clean (and distortion for that matter) and all roll. OVERALL OPINION I have been a month now. I wanted an amp exploitable low volume (even though we know that the lights do not speak to their max potential), with a good clean sound and use only the distortion from the amp without a pedal for that. So I tried: ENGL Screamer (excellent, long hesitation, but unfortunately not enough gain for my taste), Fender Blues Junior (the most beautiful clean sound in the world. More precision below. UTILIZATION Before you continue reading these lines, I would like prvenir, not to waste your time unnecessarily, I would not say that the saturation of this amplifier. So THE FIRST thing you notice is that no matter rglages, the sound is never really dsagrable.

Unless EXAGRES in rglages creuss, all is finding his preferences, but must be done to have a really expr dsagrable makes his ears bleed. And of course, my Engl prfr the original sound, the one and only if we do not perform any of these two buttons. Otherwise nothing to say more. A yes. Go easy with the gain. Trs nothing serious in itself when you see the solidity of the machine and finish irrprochable Depth except this little button. But the sound that rvle as the personality of the guitar is the crunch, so it shares some of the prfrent push the clean channel gain, other prf rent rduire channel gain satur. It dpends use, one for crunch blues will be more suited to a big crunch pushed clean pchu be located in the saturated gain channel 8. Personally I plutt supporter of the 2nd, which will have a sound between the crunch and saturation, it can-do-cleaner, sharp and angry. Do not be afraid to add a little to meet the mdiums all. Level Treble and Presence, cruel dilemma.Try it, then. on the other hand, those who use distortion pedals, it will do without unless you have a really worthy of the name. In any fawn, a paste of distortion pedals to this head is a vritable sacrilge, given the quality of the saturation of the amplifier is truly sublime. Then head for this, many regret the absence of the Gate Intgr Submitted on the 100 Fireball. I do not understand the dozens of comments dealing with the breath EXAGRES of this amp in my home I have nothing at all. All clean burr-free, with no parasites, no breath, nothing trs trs trs same high volume and no noise gate! (May be the vintage pickups in PRS are for something, I do not know their level of output but it must be reasonable plutt. Then report quality price. If you want to saturation Powerball without the budget is just perfect, because Fireball is nothing but a head with just the Powerball channel 1 and channel 4, and having a common legalization both channels. I would do without this choice hsiter for a second.

Finally, I would say. In my case, I do not need more.UTILIZATION As has been said, the config is very simple, one branch, it does everything at noon and it sounds. Then we will be able to play with knobs that are highly reactive in a mini-rotation to the right or left, it changes the sound is very much appreciated. In addition, the switches of bright and depth (made to increase the response of the treble and bass) open other opportunities for her. So we get something very easily very high level. Even on my old Ibanez, I do not exceed half. Clean and let's talk. It is very beautiful, very pure, very bright, snapping if desired, more rounded if necessary, I consider it one of the many strengths of this head. But beyond the huge distortion from this precision, this stunning clean and clean grain in Engl, the beast is also more honest about sound and hard-rock crunch, try, turn down the gain at 9 am lez mount mediums and bass at 13, 14h, you tell me the news. As you can see, I'm a fan of all the sounds that Fireball offers. OVERALL OPINION I use it for a little over one month at a rate of one hour per day, only to me or my drummer, I had a Randall RH150 G3 addition, Marshall transos, hybrids, I heard Vox, Peavey, and Mesa, tried a TSL100 (all very different of course) and well I think I finally found what I was looking for, coupled with an Engl cab E212VH and my Eclipse, it's enjoyable sipmlement, no need for effects, it is sufficient unto itself. For me, unbeatable, I got it secondhand for 650 with footswitch Z4 and even nine in 1000, in his field, I do not see who is better. Without hesitation, I would do this choice. Did you find this review helpful? yes no. There is a system that the intensity of CONTRL 6L6 asked to avoid them gun down in bad connection of the baffle. The head is large and requires a 100 W without being super heavy (18 kg). The finish is excellent. Gain, and qualisation prsence are shared by both channels.

The knobs change the sound depth and there are ways to obtain a wide range of sounds trs, clear light of the big big disto, through the crunchy hot. By varying the volume of the guitar is even wider possibilities. The manual is minimalist but sufficient given the simplicity of the machine. In addition, we can find the electric circuit of this amp on the web: trs useful for handymen and ca is better than 100 pages of user manual. I read that some gns by the problem of channel change: without footswicth master each branch is assigned a channel, which is handy. The solution: review of the footswitch cblage using a single switch, but as a branch qu'inverseur. So no soucy of ct if not affect the height of the amp. SOUNDS This amp is versatile astonishment trs. He really excels in the big sound typical metal certainly, but it sounds as though trs for clean sounds. On this point, it clearly outperforms the competition, especially in this crnau metal. The clear sound of the guitar spring fawn trs clear: all the nuances of the game are it's own trs. Mean the difference between a good scratch and a good entry level. What bliss it's clean and warm at times. It's not good but it's a Fender amp man. For big sound mtal, the diffrence is a must and a little relgue standard JCM in the background. The precision of the sound that comes out of the ENGL is pretty impressive. Round trips in palm muting sound really hell: they are always great as trs Defines all powerful, fat as I like. The feedback is trs contrlable amp and virtually no snoring, it's really a pure rgal. OVERALL OPINION The sound quality is really excellent, especially for the price: as it is often said, it is more that of prs Mesa (expensive!) Than that of Marshall (about the same price). That same limit to play in his apartment: the master is barely above zero-. But the sound is good trs same low volume. Any fawn is putting much stronger than the ENGL dvoile subtleties.

I think this is one of the best currently heads the market for this price range. His great ERRF the Powerball, with its four channels, should really be the ultimate amp, but aside half and more. Anyway, thank you ENGL Designed to have the head. A must try if you want something other than Marshall. Did you find this review helpful? yes no. UP! UTILIZATION Ultra simple configuration which is to find the sound: It is found very quickly and very easily. Then comes the problem of the EQ and Gain knob common: impossible to pass a disto montrueuse (LA disto ENGL) has a perfect clean Lorqui one has Mighty Micros. But in terms of sound (I think that whoever reads the advice is especially for that!) Case has followed a little further down. No manual, and I never felt the need. I only takes 9 to gain control common, especially my saturation control has nothing to do with that of its clean. SOUNDS This is where we approach the subject most interesting: Of course it should be in my style of music, I shall not have bought otherwise. It's really impressive for a Hi-Gain amp of this type. With a Stratocaster, the sound is clear divinely good, and crunch with both types of guitars are nikel.Whether it's in MI, RE, SI (jai tried everything), the sound is still super powerful and most accurate.Seymour Duncan with a well j'obtient pissing fat that does not bleed. With microphones simple, Nirvana, Blink 182 go nikel. Humbuckers: So is the high saturation: if you push the gain a background ca becomes uncontrollable. It really is the best. I love all the noise: why else would I put an amp in 1700. OVERALL OPINION I use it for about one month, and I love everything about this amp. But I will add a range of EQ for the most. Of course I tried bcp amp: 5150, Powerball (tro expensive for my little purse, but I took it floods over the fireball has, for more sound, but the sound of the amp is the mm), Marshall JCM 800, 900 AND 2000, Laney, and ENGL crush them all. Report qualitprix excellent.

I will make this choice 18 times if you must, but next year why not go to the new ENGL Invader ede coming out.I recommend taking a single footswitch to improve ease because in this case the master is assigned to a channel and master b to ultra gain (distortion that hard all through engl) with a stereo footswitch is right Following more than a break up handling mainly live (I paid the price) you must press the switch has 2boutons of faith to change the channel and as a master switch stereo masters are no longer assigned to each channel. I takes only 6 because of an extra gain knob orait been welcome if the common 2-channel equalizer does not bother me too much or not at all because it's pretty much the same settings for me finally. SOUNDS We enter the most interresting topic. Beautiful clean sound with bright switch (boost the trebles) and DEHP (bass bost) we can get a whole variety of its clean then we can turn the knob to mess gain cruncher or rather all that. Then the distortion is simply beautiful in a word a huge grain of different marshall and mesa but I love just what ptit grain (one reason for my purchase) equalizer is effectively a marshall but less accurate that mesa.Mais a sound in general is simply magnifique. On can play well almost all over this amp is best for the big metal (doom, black, death and also heavy trash). With the experience I immediately remake that choice. Did you find this review helpful? yes no. Amme is right a system that tube-monitoring that protects the amplifier in case of lamp and warn dfaillante through an LED. UTILIZATION - The eq is not enough prcise. It is used when trsdstabilisant amps o knobs of the race is trsractives. The knob of Prsence it is quite effective, but there are few cons diffrence between the low places in the middle or bottom.Level switchage channel: one passes immediately clear sound an extreme saturation. No of 2.

And unfortunately, I have met together to problem levels between the two sounds (not pal-ing with his APRS). SOUNDS I coupled this head a cabinet Marshall 1960AX load of 1971 with a pair of Greenbacks (the original) and a pair of Century Vintage rcente. The quality of manufacture of the baffle has nothing do with the current standards Marshall. Much more safe, the measurements are slightly differ. Dj must be taken into account zik style that I practice, which, although sr, is facing trial Determines that I wear. In terms of sound it is what I play. - The sound is clear trs good. I like because it is clean and right trs (trs hard to saturate even with a HB in my case). We can afford (which is my case) those wild o the clear sound that would be difficult with other amplifiers (eg Mesa). This is the highlight of this amp. The level of gain as I Rarem seen on an amp (I dare not even imagine with a 12AX7 EI). INTERESTED what is it that comes fully exploit the avalanche gain because the sound does not bleed and remains all the same though Dfine (palm mute lovers apprcieront). I am a little dsaccord with some things that have t say I do not classify in either the Mesa CATEGORY let alone Marshall. The saturation of the Engl has the personality with a bump in the important high-mids. OVERALL OPINION I no longer have this amp. APRS I sold about 1 year of use for the worries of use numrs above. That's my opinion on the Engl. Can I blame him it may be of some dtail (a do not call into question the quality of sound) but for me aa t enough to make me Gnant Sparer me. 5 of 5 people found this review helpful Did you find this review helpful? yes no By using our services, you agree to our use of cookies. I spent over two months on it then just got frustrated and made something else. Is there a proven schematic out there? There's one there. Jim The first most obvious problem is V2 pin 7 goes straight to ground. Like that it won't work. I changed it to a 470k (and several other values and different caps in parallel). I ended up getting it to work in overdrive. Problem was everytime i got a good overdrive tone the clean was junk. I also had made several other changes i don't remember now. The way it is it won't do anything and I worked past that too. I found this and was considering it but not sure. About 15 or so posts down Brutar posted on graph paper. I may just end up trying it. But thanks for the reply. The preamp was a little further in the thread above (I tried to attach it). I used the amp section of the Superlite with 2 EL84's and an OT from and old Hammond organ. Still getting rid of some hum but it sounds great so far. This is as quiet as I have been able to get it. Some clipping distortion on clean from phone and using bridge pickup. Used neck only later to show depth and bright switches. Not sure if I added link correctly. Valves are all behaving themselves even though there seems to be more blue hue than usual. I have read in many forums that the problem I'm getting is quite common in these amps however no one has found a solution.

When the ultra channel is used it is noisy hum and seems to be microphonic, I am using EH12ax7's and I have tried swapping them out with others but the problem is always the same.Readings do not change after switching channels. If so, is the amp quiet with nothing plugged in. If not, carefully try shorting the input with the amp opened up to see if that changes the noise that you're hearing. What does the noise sound like that you're hearing. Is it 60Hz hum or 120Hz buzz (download some tones so you know for sure). Are you located in an area where there are some competent techs who can look at it. Has the amp always been like this?It seems that there is too much gain and it whistles high pitch feedback even at low volumes.Resources saved on this page: MySQL 15.79% vBulletin Optimisation provided by.
